Well.
My name is Alvaro and I am a willow addict; I do not know what has happened to me this year but I have gone bat-buying crazy. I had resolved to buy nothing else this year until It's Just Cricket's fantastic Olympic offer came along. After a long period of agonising I decided that Trypewriter's Salix was the way to go, but snoozed so to speak - I am delighted it looks a gun bat though
Further to this I struck up an email conversation with Paul over the remaining bats he had in stock, particularly the Willo Stix that he speaks so highly of. It became a bit of a obvious outcome I'm afraid, I am a complete sucker for the engraved front of these bats and, being a fan of 'them days' with the attendant cigarette cards and Pathe film, a sucker for the classic look this bat has.
In short, along with the excellent customer service received, I finally decided to go with the bat because it's a beautiful piece of willow. The shape is bordering on standard Asian, with a bit of concaving, but I am a fan of this. The bat is 2.9, the quality of willow is high (the grains have that lovely almost-purple colour to them) and it's really lovely to look at, pick up and packs a fair old punch, I'll tell you... I also paid for it to be knocked in and the It's Just Cricket service is top - not a seam mark in sight after a scuffsheet-free net.
All in all, this is a lovely bat, which is a bit different and I'm glad I took a punt - if it hadn't been for the great forum offer I would not own such a stonking bat.
Gush over, here be pics:
