His counter attacking inning with Cook at the Gabba 2010.  Set up the whole series that did.

My favourite Strauss innings has to be his ton v the Aussies at Old Trafford in 2005, basically becasue I was there for the entire innings. He copped a blow to the helmet from Brett Lee early doors and had to have a bandage on under his helmet for the rest of the innings.
After that initial blow, his hooking and pulling was sensational!
Just had to remind me didn't you..   :(

how about his 150 odd against India in the last World Cup? Or the 3 hundreds he scored in 2004/5 against SA? Gets on my nerves when the idiots commenting on cricinfo talk about him being an average batsman when he's scored runs against everybody in all parts of the globe.

161 at Lords in the 2009 Ashes - this set up our first win against Aus at Lords for about 75 years!!

I gave up reading the comments on cricinfo along time ago because 99% of it is utter tripe

I totally agree - with the 1% being

"perhaps KP can hire Strauss as his new agent"

Strauss read Economics at Durham

Yes, the pride of the mighty Hatfield College, as was Nick Compton - and me!  :)

Actually, the main reason I wanted to go to Durham was because of the high class cricket that they play there.  Sadly, I was very much over-matched and nowhere near the required standard to play for the uni side!  :( The rest, as they say, is history...

For the record, and actually on topic this time, I would say that his 150 against India in the World Cup would be the stand-out for me.  Especially because nobody felt he had the game to score so quickly.  That was also against an India side that would go on to win the competition...

I'm with you there, I remember being in awe of that innings how easily he was able to found a boundary all around the ground every over. Then I was disappointed that he retired from One Day Cricket for England after that.

When I was at York I played for our 2nd team against Durham 2's as we'd been put in the same BUSA group. A complete mismatch, we got absolutely murdered. I can't remember his name but I think they had the England u19 captain at the time playing for them. I did manage to slap a couple of big sixes before bring caught at slip reverse sweeping, also got their opener out but I think that was the only wicket we got.
