Kookaburra Recoil
« on: September 04, 2012, 03:26:46 PM »

Does it have a big middle even with a light weight?
Is the middle to high to use on pitches in the UK (even if im short)?
What are kookaburra bats like in general? (grains, ping, how easily they break)

We did a YouTube review of the Recoil 450:

It's not the most comprehensive bat review I've ever done, but it should hopefully answer all your questions adequately.

1) No more so than any other bat
2) No, it depends on your style of play and as Crictech has said on here most of us do actually hit the ball higher up the blade than we think anyway. If it feels nice then it will tend to go well.
3) Kookaburra bats, for me, are hit and miss. Some are stunning and some are less so. It's definitely not a brand I would ever buy unseen, but that's just me. They seem to break a lot but, again, that's just my experience of them...(well teammates of mine..) I'm sure you'll get a Kook fan along in a sec to tell you they are the best bats in the world... ;) It's all personal preference...

+1 have had two break, one quite a way out of its 12 month warranty, and they replaced them straight away.... no quibble at all. Seemed to have quite weak toes

My old kahuna was a rocket for a size 6 with 11 straight grains unfortunately like said before they do have a habit of breaking, mine split at the toe playing a district game. Great bats if you're prepared to fork out for replacements/repairs.

I love the profile of the recoil, never picked one up though.

I've got a 2012 Recoil 750. I have to say I wasn't impressed with it so I'm giving it away as a 'prize' to raise money for the club. It goes if you middle it etc but it's middle isn't great and the pick up is horrible. Of course again it's all personal opinion and luck of the draw. It's only netted a couple of times but that's probably 500/600 balls so I've used it enough to know I don't like it.

You could always sell me the 750 ;)

Not for £30 notes I can't :). It should be able to raise about £200+ quid for the club so it's more valuable as a tempter I'm afraid. Don't worry, there is a little something in your parcel :).. You'll have to wait and see what it is.
