Seems quite a few people are fans of Woodstock on here, they must perform well??

Shame the day I meet him at ,the expo he came across like an ass and really put me off him and his company. Good looking stick mate hope it goes well for you.

Reports from everyone i spoke to at the expo were negative about him. Seemed particularly unwilling to even acknowledge the existence of anyone who wanted to talk about batmaking or the provenance of his bats.

The gear is nice, but of course its going to be, anyone swapping a newbery logo with a woodstock one will be selling good bats and softs.

Wasn't just me I'm afraid but it may just be he isn't a people person and being surrounded by bat badgers all day at the expo event maybe just wasn't his cup of tea. Most put me right off him and his company to the point thati would there use a SD bat that give him my money.

Anyway good looking bat bud.

I'll bear that in mind when I next buy a bat then, I can understand your point of view and now I'm aware of it I'll definitely think twice before repeating any business.

And thank you SOULMAN1012, best of luck for the new season mate  :)

do you really care what somebody is like as long as the kit is good....

I must admit i do...

Honestly I'll say yes. If someone provides decent kit but poor service then I'm willing to make a slight compromise in quality to get a better service.

I doubt that you would need to compromise on quality for better service! So many top bat makes out there that there is no need. 8)

I would imagine that he was keeping low in case anyone asked him anything too technical about the batmaking process!  ;)

I had spoken to both John and his wife/partner recently , just before the expo to sort something out for me . They were quite lovely and helpful .

thought I'd do a full kit follow up (bar my helmet and bag that have still to be purchased)

Pads: woodworm Performance - might replace but have been a soild set got from a old team mate

Gloves: (top left) Ishan 950's - used by Azhir Ali
(top Right) H4L limited editions - Just bought off the forum, slightly big on me but still comfy
(bottom) H4L Gloves (last years?) - again from the forum, fit like a glove!  :D

Bats: Kookaburra Kahuna 300 - weights roughly 2.9, responds well to the mallet
GM Halo 606 - bought from the forum, weights 2.8

I went down to John's Woodstock workshop last year - he couldn't have been nicer; spent a couple of hours there, he was engaging, really keen to ensure I picked the right bat for me, which I did (at the time!)

The bat was great as well - I just couldn't get on with the shape (extremely concaved) out in the middle - got me some runs but I never felt 'at one' with it, though that's no reflection on the quality of the bat - all of the Woodstock gear is top quality, well finished and extremely good value...

Gear for this season;

B3 bespoke (on order) - traditional shape with a twist  ;) 2.8
Kook Ice net bat

Kook R900 pads

Kook Ice gloves x 2

Albion helmet

Not the most wide-ranging, I'll admit, but it does the job for me (and fits in one bag!)

Thank you Jamie, this is good news about Woodstock.
They do seem to produce some nice kit.
