New Toy
« on: September 10, 2012, 09:33:58 AM »

Having had access to lots of bats over the last 3 years it does take a lot to get me excited when it comes to another cricket bat.

For the most part, its all about function... does it welly the ball!  :(  :o

But i cannot help but get excited about this comedy bat as its just the cricket bat equivalent of clown shoes... Long handle, long blade and just creeping to the 3lbs 2oz mark... it actually feels ok and it was going on the wall along with a few selected specials... but i think it needs at least a net and maybe a match... i'll report back with a review and more images.

That looks more like a small artillery piece than a bat!

I think there's too much temptation so i fired on a scuff and will have a net. The biggest difference is just the sheer swing weight, you do feel it in the shoulders. That said my match bat is just a smudge under 3lb and i don't get to much hassle. its just ahem down to the length! Buy it's made me rethink my own bat preference and whilst this is huge, i may start using a long handled bat.  :o

Marcus - if we are having a net or two over Winter as discussed, then don't even consider leaving this bat at home!!  ;)

I'm loving my long blades but not tried a lh lb so could be fun as mine end up at 3lb or over with extra length

Sort it out hosk

Its just a preference thing, yes there is a guide. But having worked with pro and ex internationals one being 6ft 5inches they use a sh bat. It's simply that this seems to 'feel' good. I'm going to make a LH net bat and see if i get the same response. As it stand the Spartan may get an outing in the last game of the season.  :o

I did not find much difference in swing speed but found I was more confident driving as did not have to bend so low to middle and dealing with Yorkers was a lot easier

I was tempted by one of these as it's basically match bat specs

Must resist!!!!!!!!!!!!
