You're right! I just hope they don't all do that.
Flat face is ok and you get used to it, but still prefer the non-flat face if I'm honest.

I was hoping to see less cancaving on bats for 2013!

Never used a flat face before.  Will have to try and have a few balls with our wicketkeeper's bradbury, as that appears to have a flat face...

its possible, but I wonder if it would fall between the two stools commercially?

big enough edges to carry the infield with a huge middle - sounds a right commercial success to me. Whether somebody can make something with 25-30mm edges and a large spine, at a weight you can lift is another matter.

I was just looking at my GM Icon+ - it has 35mm edges / concaved 67mm spine (I think) and is 2'10 (mines a bit lighter than most but in the 2'11-2'12 region). So a slightly smaller edge / higher spine ie. 20-30mm / 70-80mm might be possible around 2'10-11. How big is the spine on a distinction?

mine is 75 or 76 mm I think, with edges that are either 22 or 29 mm depending whether youaccount for the rounded fce.

I'm not sure whether we will see more of this, but I would like to see more Newbery Tour'esque profiles. People just don't seem to realize what they are really asking for when they ask for big edges. What they really want is a bat that will play well even for off-center shots. A convex profile would seem to be ideal for this.

Of course, fashion/fads can't necessarily be rationalized ...
