In fairness to b3 I don't think they advertise the offset edge as such. It's simply an end product of a low edge profile and high middle swell.

The shape is the shape that the player comes up with through the system. An offset edge on a B3 happens when the player wants a high middle, but low edge profile on CAD system. They're not promoting it widely as 'the high performance offset edge profile' it just happens to be a profile which comes about from their various options.

You'll notice the DB1, DB2 and DB3 (their stock shapes) don't feature the offset edge profile, so I can't see it as them ripping Andy off.

More a series of events, which a player can choose which culminates in a profile similar to one that a batmaker on here created.

Exactly - so the question would be why are players choosing this profile?

I think Andy can take huge credit from his blog and various posts explaining the benefits for that.

As I have stated before take the off set edges away it is a replica of the old laver special profile from 2008

Yes the off set edges are the twist to this

Bar the off set edges the bat is a laver special profile

Look down the back of a hades and look down the back of this there different the row area and the middles and spines

This bat is cross between a laver and saf offset edge but b3 just put in my chooses and here it came

Call custom what you want for me I bought a bat that has many influences but was made by a machine and as proven it was a 3 in 144 chance of this

As stated I new the edges would be offset as I asked for a high spine but low edges simple as that

As said I have been after the ops laver special profile for so long I have been let down by 2 makers not on here I may add to copy it

So b3 gave me that option and then with different edges just happens with the combination

Bit sad when you have to defend a shape you asked for through a machine this was just a bat review

The middle is from about a inch from the custom sticker till about a inch near the toe

Like my old trusty laver but with a bigger coverage as expected through the shape

Dave [Procricket] said he ended with that shape as a custom, I stood corrected like I said earlier... Also B3 called me, I still really like those guys and huge thanks for the call...

My umbrage and possible toys out of pram attitude has been eliminated...

Thanks B3 especially for the call and best of luck guys and you Procricket with your bat.

Dave, you have no need to defend yourself, everyone loves the bat and the thought that went into the design.

All good then

now we can get back to reality of the thread that a bat of this quality size and performance is lost on Dave haha

It's warming to know things like this can be sorted like grown ups over a quick call between willow geeks

Follow up

Used this today in a indoor net played very well indeed

Used mainly readers balls on the machine bat played very well indeed and has a chance of,eclipsing the very destinguished private bin.

Maybe the fact I feel in top nick and me working on strength area, but the bat plays as well as a bat could and played accordingly if I hit it well it goes.  Coverage is good as expected from the shape and quality of willow and pressing seems top quality

Also tried the other 2 bats which I have reviewed alsewhere they went well as well but this bat is special in looks and playability.

Overall not much else to say but a very good, bat indeed no doubt about that

Oh forgot to add it is 3 oz heavier than normal but did not notice in pick up maybe a sign of a well balanced bat.

I think that if you ask someone to make you a bat to a specific shape, and they do that, even if it is via programming a machine to do the actual work, then it qualifies as custom made. Maybe there is a confusion between custom made and hand made?
It looks a fine bat. I'm not surprised that you are delighted with it.

Wasnt it at the weight you specified when ordering originally or did you opt to go a bit heavier than usual to try it out
