When I say branding, I'm not necessarily talking stickers (certainly not my favourite), but rather the brand image as a whole.  There's no other brand out there at the moment that draws in the kids more than BoomBoom.  Having a fun, catchy name certainly helps!

Is the arrogance similar in shape though to a certain forum sponsors new bat shape..

I love the shape but i do like the asian shape

Are they made in the Uk now or still sareen

You could say its close to Andys but even though I don't work for Saf anymore I would say that the feel of each are poles apart. I think I'd put my coin with the guy that can alter to suit the individual.

Did anyone visit the Mongoose stand? I didn't get round to them in the end.  Had no real interest in seeing them really (we are going to drop them), but just curious what the new stuff is like...

That I agree with, but having dealt with boom boom before and having some pretty good in depth chats... I wasn't that enamoured with certain traits. But it's a numbers game.

And as others have said (or maybe even you) we're not the target market for them. They do nothing for me, I would never buy any of their gear but as long as someone does then I guess they're doing something right....

Strange thing with boom boom is that despite being stocked by the biggest local retailer I have never seen anyone using any of their gear. The youngsters at our club seem to go for Adidas and Puma who they know for things outside of cricket. Their marketing seems to be aimed very much at the Asian cricket fan with everything based on Afridi although I appreciate they have other sponsored players on board.
I think I just haven't really forgiven them for the horror show that was their keeping gear...

On another note, who else was disappointed with salix? Their stickers looked a bit silly to me and flat faces pretty much all round - couldn't believe it!

I was disappointed after seeing Salix, usually they are the only ones who impress and stand out each year but this year I was disappointed :(

Agreed, when you have a great brand built on a classy and elegant image I can't see the need to start jazzing up the stickers

going back to Boom Boom, I know from coaching that they have major brand appeal and I think in those circs its sensible not to price yourself away from your core market, so props to them.

Simmy is charging up the M69/M1 as I speak - eta was 11.30pm so don't hold your breath on those pics today.

Salix bats looked great, the Strike Wasp looked a great willow at an affordable price point - rrp £180, so sub £150? stickers were so so but not that bad.

Boom Boom might work from a retailers point of view, good price points (didn't see the wholesale prices but I imagine they were good) and large willow. However with the bigger brands, gray nics in particular, doing similar size willow I'm not sure how they will go. Agree with thecord, marketing aimed at the asian market.

Wasn't impressed with the Dynadrive, looked like a badly made Luna.

Thanks to Tom for the invite, enjoyed today and meeting other forum members.

There was something very elegant about the old Salix stickers. They just looked quality. These new stickers don't really work for me in comparison but I still think that they are better than a lot of other sticker designs in the marketplace. Salix, for me, will still be one of the 'must have' brands though...

The flat faces don't bother me too much but I am surprised they have done it right across the range and not just done one model like it.
