As Alba said he is batting consultant. He was not with the team for India tour as he had signed a contract with ABP channel to cover the series as an analyst. He will go with the team to South Africa.

Apart from that Islamic commitments keep him busy.

One of his most recent picture;

love those rs thigh pads with groves for tge straps!! going to add that picture to the thigh pad thread :)

All played at my club Midland Guildford CC- Simon Katich, Tom Moody, Jo Angel, Brendan Julian, Vic Solanki, Kabir Ali, Alec Stewart
Played against in grade cricket- Justin Langer, Mike Hussey, Marcus North, Adam Gilchrist
Went to cricket scholarship school with- Aaron Redmond, Marcus North
Managed to train with Aussies at the WACA twice in 2000 (I think it was 2000), got really lucky and had two Crownies in the change rooms after they beat the Windies to get the Test record after that game!!

Very lucky in Aus with access to quality players....find it a lot harder in UK!

The other day i was lucky enough to sit on the field at the GABBA, was given a TV interview with Matthew Hayden, I also met Sir Vivian Richards underneath the Gabba as he is the melbourne star's batting coach, I have also met Adam GIlchrist at a book signing.

Steve Smith the Aussie led spinner played a few games for my club a few years ago before he made it big, as did Daniel Bell-Drummond but when he was a colt.

Hamlisch Marshall at Gatwick and Andrew Strauss through work but that's it I'm afraid.

I live and play cricket in Hampshire and going back 7 or 8 years ago used to turn out on a regular basis for the Bat & Ball Cricket club based at the home of cricket - Broadhalfpenny Down, Hambledon.

We used to play a number of mid-week afternoon and evening fixtures against various touring teams who wanted to play on the hallowed turf. Apart from a few regular Hambledon 1st team players you didn't know who would be playing until you all met up 30 minutes before the toss.

Anyway this one day I'm playing and this 60 plus year old Australian is on side. He's introduced as Ross and is very unassuming but very friendly and has a kind word of encouragement for everyone. We field first and he takes his place at slip  -  he then proceeds to take 2 of the sharpest slip catches I have ever seen, no fuss, no big deal it's as if he's been doing it all his life!

We bat 2nd and I'm in early at 3 facing a young quicky who is at least a standard or two better than me. Another wicket falls and Ross is in at 4. He can see I'm struggling but some words of encouragement, a bit of luck and rotation of the strike helps me survive and we start to build a partnership. From the non-strikers end I watch with envy how he seems to play the ball so late and with so much time to choose and pick his shots. I eventually manage to hit 2 cover drive boundaries towards the new pavilion and even at 40 something I'm chuffed to bits when he tells me "great shot mate".

I'm eventually out in my 30's but our partnership is worth over 80, Ross finishes up with a 70 odd and we manage to hang on for a draw. After the game we talk over a pint or two, he thanks me for batting with him and he signs by sons bat.

I've never seen him since but I will never forget the day I met and batted with Ross Edwards, Western Australia, World Series cricket and 20 tests for Australia.

What a top bloke.

Played with Colin de Grandhomme, Moved Quereshi and met Aaron Finch. Also played against Peter Sleep in a tour match at Middleton I think.

Used to have Andy Jarvis so Paul came to a couple of our net sessions.

These are not quite the biggest names but all played a bit of international cricket.

I think if you did play against Sleepy I thing it may have been against us!

From memory that only full on international player that I've met is Ian Harvey when he sub-pro'd for us.

EDIT: I've also met Mahendra Nagamootoo and 'The Prince of Karachi' Asif Mujtaba

had Devon Malcolm bowling bouncers at me off 16 yards because the run up in the indoor nets wasn't long enough for him.
played a comp in the USA against T&T team which included Kieron Pollard and Bravo brothers - we got hammered. Played another side in same comp that had Sehwag opening the batting. Somehow got him to lob the ball up in the air only to see mid off and cover run head long into each other.
Had the dubious pleasure of being cleaned up by Vinay Kumar on a tour match in Hyderabaad

That is one of the great things about playing at Hambledon! I too am Hampshire based. We always have our season opener at Hambledon. A great place to play cricket and a real privilege too.....The Bat and Ball is still a half decent pub as well....!

Pedals where you from mate? I am a Hampshire boy but living in Shropshire now, played for Havant and Hayling Island when I was younger, and played a fair few games at Hambledons ground. Bat & Ball is a lovely little pub! Who do you play for mate?
