Pedals where you from mate? I am a Hampshire boy but living in Shropshire now, played for Havant and Hayling Island when I was younger, and played a fair few games at Hambledons ground. Bat & Ball is a lovely little pub! Who do you play for mate?

Agree with everything you say about the Pub, had our clubs 25th anniversary Ball back there in September. A quite brillint evening.

Small world. When did you play at Havant?  I still live in the area and played at Waterlooville and Hambledon in the 70's and 80's and my lad played youth age group cricket at Havant throughout the 2000's.

From the old days I can remember Gary Shotton, Stan Rudder, Phil Loat et all at Havant, and when I last played league cricket Phil Mist ? was scoring loads of runs at Hayling.

Yeah Phil Mist is still scoring runs at Hayling, they're doing well by all accounts.

I would have played against your lad then, I'm 26 so we might be the same age. I assume you know Bill Hindley, my uncle, and his lad Richard Hindley my cousin. Knew Stan and the rest of the Zombies from birth, you must have played with or against the Zombies? Think everyone has!

Small world indeed mate!

I'm based very near Winchester, a place called Stockbridge.  I play for a invitational side on a Sunday calls Vagabonds CC which is how I get to visit such nice grounds like Hambledon. The ethos of the club is that we look to play a good standard against 'proper chaps' on 'gorgeous grounds' with not a teetotal in sight! Hambledon fits in very well! Consumption of vast quantities of alcohol is encouraged so the Bat and Ball meets our needs nicely.  Saturdays I play league for a team just outside Romsey, Michelmersh and Timsbury CC, couldn't tell you what league we're in now though, so much re-structuring recently! It's either County 1 or 2!!  That is beginning to wind down for me though. Work/family commitments mean I have to choose between Saturdays and Sundays and I get a lot of pleasure out of Sunday cricket so that takes precedent! I've been playing for them for nearly 20 years! The Hosk turns out for us occasionally and I've got Roco on the list to come down sometime soon! (when I've worked out a suitable payment scheme!)

Richard Hindley? Coaches up at Dummer? Impossibly lovely bloke? If that's him then he's coached me a few times! He is a very, very fine player!

That's the one mate, he's my cousin. Got a call up for Hampshire and smacked Michael Kasprowicz around for fun by all accounts in his one and only game for them. He's a bloody good player, always puzzled me why he never kicked on in the county setup. Has bags of talent.

I'm not sure if I've met Bill, I might know him by sight?

Yeah, Richard is really high quality. He's one of those guys who you can ask for advice even if you're just netting with your mates and he's wandering around. Loves his bats too! He's had a good root through the Hosk collection on occasion as well....

I'm going to see him fairly soon for a tune up of my left arm spin. He got me bowling a decent arm ball last season so I'm hoping he can help me with my wrong 'un! (or at least help me land it on the cut bit!)

Very small world!

I play in the Lancasire league.  Its always been knowing for having good pro's, for instance, allan donald, kapil dev, steve waugh, shane warne michael clarke and a few other big names have pro'd in the league.  The standard of pro's has dropped a bit with money shortages, but they are still good.

Ive been stood at the other end whilst dan christian was batting watching him hit 90 of 42 balls in a t20 using a scat.
Ive witnessed ian butler was bending his back against brenden nash up close

Ive been very lucky really haha
