Week 3 - Any Improvement?
« on: September 27, 2012, 10:02:21 PM »

Well as you may have noticed I've been working on my game the past few weeks and thanks to a lot of the members for pointing me in the right direction! GarrettJ helped me out massively and I can only thank him for all of his help! He even took some stills and sent them to me with some help these are below!

The main points were that I needed to move my stance to middle stump and get my eye over off stump, move my front foot towards the ball and push off my back foot when taking a shot! And point the toe of my bat towards where I wanted the ball to finish!

I haven't had a chance to look at the video of tonight but I felt much better and felt I hit the ball much cleaner! Ill let you guy's be the judge but I'd really like to thank GarrettJ for all of the help! Cheers buddy!

Just watched back video 1 and there is a big improvement, no crouching, the front foot isnt planting on middle and there are some nice ones that you pick up/flick to leg side. There are some nice off drives in there to.

I have noticed that your drives where you have a full follow through are much much better than the checked ones, this comes back to the hands finishing in line with the umpire and not where the shot is going.

Overall much improved and still 6 months to go until the start of the season.

I'll go through the new video frame by frame and do some comparisons to week 2 and some pro's playing the same shot. Who do you want to be compared with, I can flip left handers to play right handed.

Thanks mate, feel much more confident in my stance, still a lot to work on but as you say a lot of time to go until the season starts! Really can't thank you enough for all the advice you've given me!

And in regards to comparison perhaps someone is technically very good such as Ian Bell? Have always been a fan of how Shane Watson plays down the ground too! Anything like that would be fantastic mate!

looking loads better, what also might help you is thinking about the grip on your bottom hand, it is very strong, it might or might not help to move it anticlockwise on the handle slightly, this will allow you to hit straighter, but garrettj will have picked this up, I am sure.

it will also help you with keeping the bat coming down straight.

Good for you! Pleased to see the work you've put into your technique. Keep going you look loads better already. Like Buzz said, work on reducing the influence of that right handed grip. I'd also like to see you not prop onto your front foot as much, still too many balls bouncing waist high being played off the front foot.

Good lad toenails, have a word with123*. Not a spectacular start to the season but they will come good, finish in the top half.

My dad is and I used to watch sunderland at roker park every week from being very young (1983 1st season I went). I moved away from the north east just when everything started to get good again under Reid with Quinn and Phillips. Whenever I go back there to visit family I always take in a match. My brother is nuts about them, takes a day off work with his wife to watch the transfer deadline and got married at SOL!!!!!
