http://imgur.com/a/LPzvk/all#0So being an idiot, and with a payday pay-cheque burning a hole in my pocket, I was easily swayed into buying a new bat off this forum. I'd heard good things about BB's bats and customer service on here, so I immediately checked them out. A quick chat with one of the guys ended with me purchasing this 2lb8oz bat in one of the new 2013 shapes.
It's the lightest bat I have, though I've always tended to prefer that. I have a Solitaire that's probably a touch heavy at 2lb11oz, and a Blueroom, which was my match bat last year and performed admirably, but felt a bit odd in the last game of the season, that's probably around 2lb10oz.
Back to the BB, it's got 8 straight grains, a light touch of bowing and a beautiful profile. The bat picks up amazingly well, but with a great feeling of control. The bat speed you can get is phenomenal, but I don't think there's any compromise in the amount of wood here. The middle is fairly low, which is ideal for me as my home pitch is slow, low and terrible. The handle is oval, but tapers towards the bottom hand, it's unusual - at least compared to what I'm used to - but actually feels pretty good.
I've given it a bit of a mallet and it sounds great and pings off. Once the edges are done I'll probably fit a scuff sheet and take it for some netting.
I know it hardly matters to the performance, but this bat looks incredible. I love the minimal stickering and the wood itself is almost flaw-free. And, last but not least, the service from BB is fantastic, and I'd encourage anyone to deal with them. I didn't want to have a lot of input, but they were happy to discuss any questions I had and got the bat out to me incredibly quickly. I'll give a more detailed review after I've netted with it a few times, but it looks like my Blueroom has some competition for next season.
Cheers.
