Don't usually use scuff sheets, but had one on a bat this year. Took it off at the end of the season and it felt like there was a noticeable difference in the ping - although this may have been psychological.

One thought though - if bats ping best when the grains open up, wouldn't a scuff limited this or at least increase the time taken for a bat to reach its 'peak'
