that would never work for most people on here. to start with the bat would probably cost £200 plus, pads and gloves approaching £100.

for your bog standard cricketer who doesnt care about kit its probably a good guide

if you shop at sports direct you wouldn't spend £160 on a bat. More like a slazenger at £60-70 and pads/gloves/thigh pad etc to match.

sure (as Tim has demonstrated)
maybe I should add the caveat that it should be kit suitable for your to feel comfortable playing a first team game at your club (which by and large, my selection is)

Well Im a Sunday league 4th team cricketer, 2nd team at a different club/maybe 3rd team at the Sunday club for next summer. and I have spent £280-340 on my kit for the next season which includes 3 bats.

Thats just because I like good quality and kit that will be different to others at the club.

Ok, maybe we should do a budget of £375 for forum members to come up with kit they would use ;)

GM Icon 606 £81.25 (Barrington Sports)
GM 808 pads £43.99 new (Cricket-Hockey)
GM 808 gloves new (£24.99) (eBay)
Ayrtek Premier Navy £59.95 (3D Sports)
Shock Doctor Bioflex Cup £8.79 (eBay)
Kookaburra Protective Shorts with Padding £15.86 (Protection For Sport)
Adidas SL22 Cricket Shoes £39.99 (Amazon)
Slazenger Ultimate V180 Holdall £60.00 (Sports Direct)
Slazenger Long Sleeve Cricket Shirt £3.99 (Sports Direct)
Slazenger Cricket Trousers Mens £4.99 (Sports Direct)

Well that's mine, comes to £337.77 with a couple of the p+p missing. With a bit more hunting I'd probably upgrade the clothing. Happy with the bat, spikes, lid etc.

That's not my actual kit mate, just saying if I had a budget that's what I'd go for
