This is crazy, I thought I was pretty bad but you lot are completely insane! Makes my list look positively restrained!

I've discarded all of the below because they didn't feel as nice as my wavy grained Mjolnir...........

I have said it before and will say it again:

If you take the time to knock you bats in properly, you will be amazed at the results...!!

I have always just used one bat at a time and ditched it when I have had enough of it. no real regrets. When I have had more than one bat on the go it has been experimental or because the bat was a real bargain, but it was never really going to be a match bat.

Only a Robinsons Bat and a Kookaburra bat have been ones I have got rid of with out really giving them a chance and the Robinson bat may yet put in another appearance!

This is an interesting if eternal debate - what constitutes properly?  I recently bought two quite lovely M&H bats from IJC which came, they claimed, properly ready to play and pitted with impact marks.  Having the habit of hitting bats with a mallet anyway I've given them another two to three hours each and I swear they are continuing to improve as I go along!

I've always felt that their are two stages to getting a bat ready. 'Knocking in' which can constitute anything from an hour to 3-4 hours and 'playing in' which can take 3 months or so! I certainly always try to 'knock' my bat in to a point where I'm getting no seam marks etc but the true performance of the bat never comes before 3-4 months of using it constantly.

When I have more than 2-3 bats to choose from I think I miss out on the optimum performance because it's the 'playing in' bit that I am not doing properly as I am constantly chopping and changing. Hence me selling off a few bats this winter and trying to concentrate on a couple.
