Newbery Thruxton vs Morrant Super Ultralites
« on: October 10, 2012, 03:51:44 PM »

I have settled on these two pads, but I am not sure- I have found them at very similar prices, but I am concerned about weight and size. Newbery Thruxtons can be found for £50 in Youths- whilst the Morrants are Standard mens, £45. Unfortunately I am around 5,5, maybe less... Ideas?
Can anyone give a quick review of the Thruxtons for me?
They are supposed to be light, though they are not as light as the Morrant pads.

On the other hand, the Newbery Thruxton would go with my new Mjolnir... But....
Any help would be much appreciated gents.

One of our lads have the thruxton pads and they're amazing .I've tried them on and they're really comfy however the straps are long for me and need folding over at the ends

Pretty poor to be honest, couldn't build any form... I blame the weather :D
I got a 49* and 4 for 14, but those were in poor quality competitions and not on Saturdays. Yeah, so was I! I've left Wardens though, I have been around the clubs a bit this year, and will settle at Rugby next year as it is a 15 minute drive as opposed to a 45  minute drive to Wardens. I did get a Warwickshire First Division appearance in the last game of the season, but didn't do much haha :) Miss playing at Moreton Morrell, such a nice ground!

Fair play mate! Sometimes you have to move away to prosper. You'd have played with Owen and Hughsey then at Rugby???

Yeah, that is what I am thinking. I didn't get a look in a KW really, despite putting a lot of effort in for 3 seasons. I've been turning up to their nets for most of the season, so I know most of them now, but I ended up playing against their twos from Ansley... Didn't go down too well :P
Basically we should have lost but I and another chap batted for about 25 overs each for sub-20 scores, and secured a losing draw, meaning they weren't guaranteed promotion until the last game of the season. There was some banter, that game! :)

I'll get a pair of these then, thanks :)

Yeah, we took a beating!
I didn't do anything wrong though which is good, got a nice diving stop in.
I wanted to bowl, there was some interesting bowling attempts going on and I felt I could have eked something out of the pitch but it was the first division after all :) ! Got to face the last few balls, the track was beautiful, I felt like I could have batted on there all day. Easily the best track of the season, given the weather and everything.
