I thought out bowling attack was starting to look a bit ordinary until I saw what the aussies have out here!

watched the first hour, a couple of play and misses. Smith was LBW much to my surprise as he hadn't looked in any real problems. Seeing as this was the time the aussies had to strike I wasn't that impressed with the effort. Good track it looked but they barely got it off the straight and not enough hitting the top of off-stick. I expect Steyn and co to do alot more with it when they bowl.

The thing I found unbelievable is that Australia are still in contention to be the number 1 side in the world!

I can't see them winning a test in this series.

After a good first day of the test JP Duminy has been ruled out of the rest of South Africa's tour of Australia with a ruptured left Achilles' tendon  :(

how has he managed that when he hasn't done anything yet. At least you had 7 batsman and now have 255 on the board.

Du Plessis to replace him for the rest of the series?
Duminy is a fairly helpful part time bowler too!

Great stuff from Pup and Cowan, proper dig in cricket!!

Love watching Clarke bat looks better with every knock, needs to be tested in the top 4 when Ponting goes tho.

Anyone else think this Kleinvelt is carrying some puppy fat?
Don't tell him i said that tho.

I was amused to see Kleinvelt as his physique doesn't look like a fast bowler at all in my opinion.

I have him on WhatsApp and will share screenshot Birdy  8)

Pup looks on superb form!
Excellent knock against decent bowling attack!
Cowen was decent too considering SA put on a good score and the first 3 Aussie wickets went cheaply! That shows how strong mentally you need to be! They could have folded, but they dug in and turned the game around!
Fair do's!  8)

Only one wicket for the whole day - and that a freakishly unlucky runout.

We passed their score four wickets down - it seems the Aussie bowling was not THAT bad after all.

Morkel bowled well the whole day yet still got hammered. Steyn was treated with contempt. Philander looks like a piddly military medium bowler when he is handed a pitch that isn't juiced up to his liking and teh fat bloke looks like he should be a playing as a prop for the Springboks.

Having said that, this is not a pitch, it is a road.

You miss out here and you only have your self to blame.

In any case, only one team can win this test match and it isn't South Africa.

Clarke was lucky not to be out twice early on, getting leading edges over point and mid on. Saffas were bowling well at that point and who knows what might of happened.  Only one winner tomorrow and it'll be interesting to see if the Saffas choke in 2 sessions.  It's happened before.

Philander might struggle at his pace in Australia.  For much of the England series he struggled only to come good at Lords. Be interesting to see him in Asia.
