Newbery Mjolnir SPS
« on: October 13, 2012, 12:41:53 PM »

I have agreed to buy a Newbery Mjolnir SPS from my local shop- they are ordering it in direct from Newbery with my weight recommendations etc...
Now, I'm suffering from buyers remorse so someone please say that it is going to be an amazing bat for my peace of mind?
Pretty Please :)

I have seen UZI and Krakatoa in action and they are amazing bats. Mjolnir should be on the same lines

That sounds more like it hahaha :)

I hope so chaps :)
The Mjolnir suits my style of play more than my Blueroom so, with any luck, it should be right bat for me :)
I'm just worried about getting a lemon.

I had a Mjolnir about 10 years ago and its was a belter. Good for all round play. One of the best performing bats I've owned, which sadly got nicked. For some strange reason I've never bought another one but then again I've never bought any bat twice. I also had an Uzi which just flew. It was a bit heavy so sold it to a mate and regretted it ever since. You can't go wrong with Newbery in my eyes they seem to consistently produce top performing bats.

Rubbish hate to say this but all brands makers do occasionally make bad bats

They do not mean to Iam sure every bat ever made has the intention of Heinz the best

But by buying a established brand and makers you have lesser chance of a duffer

Nature of cricket bat willow being a natural product, some of it is going to be more responsive than others, Regardless of weight grain structure etc.

Warwick Sports. They have a good sale on at the moment, and the 5* Mjolnir in there was delightful but didn't look like a 'pinger', so I asked them to order one in. Pleased to support a great local business.

Hopefully mine won't be a Lemon then chaps :)

not yet - my thruxton SPS from Asad has been by far the best bat i've used - third season now and still a belter. even their lower grades perform very well

I got a Newbery Mjolnir SPS , Harrow size, and two things with it. First, mine does not ping like what i expected from an SPS, and second, the Harrow size is NOT a traditional english profile. Infact i plan to send it back to Newbury to have them check the bat, and see what they have to say. Anyways, the reviews i read before i bought mine, were that they are great. Not the big modern edges, but a middle that means business. I'm sure your bat will be great. Do leave in a review once you get your bat.

It's probably made in India hence the Indian profile.

Newbery Jnr bats aren't made in the UK.

The only bats i've got are a series one SPS and mjolnir 5*. Both are superbly balanced bats (both 2.11) with huge middles. I don't buy into the huge edge trend (effectively what it is), I much prefer to try and use the middle of my bats - that's where i want the meat.

I'm sure your bat will go just fine billy.
