Sad to hear of the death of former Kent player Tony Pawson aged 91. A true all round sportsman - FA Amateur Cup winner (twice), represented GB in the Olympics at football, and also won the individual World Fly Angling title. He was also a man of principle, and resigned his membership of the MCC when they failed to select Basil D'Oliveira for the subsequently cancelled tour to SA.

'His was a cameo of savage cuts and pulls - the tragedy being that none made contact with the ball.'
