After a few less than satisfying knocks with a very cheap, very heavy bat that I couldn't get on with, I put my hand in my pocket for a much better grade, much lighter bat. In all honesty, in the season we've just had weather wise I don't think it is anywhere near played in, but it does feel as though it is getting there. But, like a lot of guys on here you start to think, I wonder if 'brand x' is all it's cracked up to be? And towards the end of the season I made another purchase and paid for it to be knocked in. I haven't used it yet, but I'm hoping to give it a gentle introduction in off season nets, and also to continue playing in my current bat too, so that next season I will have a first choice, and a 'spare' that I'm happy with, should anything untoward happen.

I use RPC as its the best performing bat (In my head) I have in all aspects bar one, it is slightly bottom heavy. Feel of the bat and rebound is the best i have had (again mentally thats what i feel/think)..

Had an interesting experience over last 2-3 weeks: Took Screaming cat out to bat and was caught at deep mid-wicket boundary (that was the first time i had used that bat) and thought that came into my head was it was a perfect connection, sounded sweet but did not go the distance, i should have used my RPC, well next week i used the RPC and got out the exact same way (it was near identical everthing) and thought i had was I played a bad shot as I know this bat could have cleared any boundary...

A lot of it is mental, what you feel most confident using. I must have had 2-3 good innings with RPC this season but its that confidence in the bat from good memories that stops me from using anything else / makes it seem better i guess..

Depends which feels best in the hands the morning of the match for me, Might sound weird but if i know we are facing a couple of decent quicks i will normaly start with a light 2lb 7oz willostix then may change to my normal 2lb 9ox M&H but this doesn't happen to often

Tried hitting the ball away from the bloke out there? :-P

I use a 2.8 mongoose Cor3. Nice large middle and bat with glasses and no lid so its aptly mobile for the inevitable short stuff.

Very occasionally use a goose mmi, would love to use it more, but its a pretty situation specific bat & it seems to take me a while to get my technique sorted with it.

I use a 2.13 Shark Great White and a 2.10 Newbery GT Players. I've yet to use the GT as it's just arrived from Paul @IJC but the reason I bought it was a had a GT SPS a few seasons back which I sold and shouldn't have.

The Shark I have now was a replacement for last one and is a good 3oz heavier than what I would normally use but if feels great in the hands and picks up very well due to the high middle (although i'm still deciding if it's a touch heavy and to have some weight taken off).

I expect the Shark to continue be my main bat as the ball just flies of the face and the middle is pretty much the bottom 2/3 of the blade. I normally bat around no. 5-7 so it's pack enough punch if I have to go in towards the end of the innings and just about light enough for the more 'deft' touches.

The GT I see myself using if I end up opening or batting at 3 which does happen from time to time, especially if I drop down a team. Both bats are very responsive and have similar placed middles, the Shark has no concaving which I prefer.
