I remember that day so well Arvind as well  I scored my first ever 50 playing for Somerset u13's. Remember going home and watching the highlights. Richie benaud commentating when Derek Pringle bowls and Viv hits him for a huge six into the confectionary store and back out again.

it beggars belief what these guys might've done with the bats they use nowadays, Sir Viv with one of Gayles clubs would be proper carnage.

Love this. This video also leaves me with a question that needs answering. With the recent surge in demand for retro cricket gear, when will the mullet-and-tache combo come back into vogue?

Just thought of another. When beefy comes into bat in an ashes test match and smacks Craig McDermott for 6 first ball and the another and the a couple of fours and then out. Just incredible confidence and self belief.

How to start

Best bit of this video is Thomson taking the catch and sticking his fingers up at the crowd. They'd be an outroar nowadays.

Watch some of the Damien Martyn vids on YouTube; that guy was one seriously good timer of a cricket ball. Some of those push drives are just ridiculous! He was very unfortunate to have such competition during his time...

Ashley giles turning shane warne into the leg side to win the 3rd (i believe) ashes test in 2005 was excellent.

K.P Smashing Glen McGrath back over his head at Lords in the same year was pretty special as well

Wonderful off the back foot with a straight bat, the best ive seen. He had a decent run in the Australian side from memory
