Just received my new 3lb 2oz Hellfire! Knocking it in furiously as I have a game next week! Initial thoughts after bouncing a new ball off it are..........bleep me this thing is amazing!

Had a go twice more this week. Had a net with the headingley guys at Headingley and apart from one inside toe shot to a bat breaker everything felt good. Used it this morning on a slow low matting surface and it felt very good. Only drawback this morning was the slow surface and my impatience! Off side shots didn't really work for me but a few wristy flicks through leg seemed rocket off. Only observation I have is unless I got a thin nick or right at the toe, I couldn't tell an off centre shot or a shot hit high or lowish - it all seemed to go.

fyi - Fros. Paul Smith seemed a good bloke and stayed for a beer in the bar after nets. He took me to one side at the end of the session and apologised for my team mates lol, explaining they are lovely guys but not great cricketers and I'll have to be patient playing with them!

Interesting observation.
I found with my Tempo that shots around the area from point to extra cover seemed to slide of the face more.
I've a feeling it's the fact that it's not a flat face.

In a net it is hard to see how far and with what speed the ball will travel. Will it breach the ring so you can get the single?
The benefit and main reason behind me getting a Tempo s to see the extra value of the increased mass.

It will be interesting to see how they perform in match conditions.

problem I have at the moment is it takes me a few weeks to get that left elbow up and stop sticking in the right hand. Not helped by some of the lollipop I've faced in warwickshire and the slow matting. Stuff I should be driving through extra is going through midwicket! Just get there very early lol . Played some lovely on drives but off side not clicked yet. Wasn't a problem on Weds in Headingley, as all the guys are reasonable bowlers and the surface is much quicker with decent bounce.

It takes a while to wait until the ball in under your eyes. I find that's a 'trust your technique', almost a Jedi thing (when Luke puts on the blast goggles for the first time).
I sound like a right spanner saying that, but I know what I mean........haha

How's the relationship between you two coming along? I'm very interested in your comments a 2lb 14 Tempo is a front runner for me as my next bat.

I've got a 3lb 1oz and 2lb 14oz Tempo. Just do it! I did and am loving it.

They pick-up very well indeed and go like a train.
My 3lb 'er is appallingly good. You will find yourself smearing the bowling, spanking length balls from the top of the bounce.
All irrelevant when we get outdoors and the balls is stuck on a green top!

Still, you should call Matt right away and fill your boots.

PS. The warranty's are rather good.

good actually. I'm getting use to the weight and it does go like stink after a sessions playing it in. The long spine helps breed confidence as I have hit loads above centre but they still ping. Normally my back foot play suffers with heavier bats but this one seems to swing better than it initially picks up. Having a 1.5 or 2 grip setup helps. Mine's a 2'12 btw.

Bringing up an oldish topic....but how has this been performing for you during the season? After picking up a custom MH from on here (distinction profile) I am kinda intrigued by the Tempo. If I can sell a few of my bats I'm thinking a Tempo will be on the way....

I was at H4L last week. Matt's got some really good, and at great weights, Tempo's made-up ready to go.

What’s the pickup of the bat like?
I am really thinking about getting one but without the possibility of picking one up and playing a little air cricket I’m finding it hard to take the leap.

it's interesting as I find it a little bottom heavy with just 1 grip, but it's slightly heavier than my normal bats. with 1.5-2 grips it seems pretty balanced. Certainly a few team mates have said it picks up really well and better than similar weight bats.

lol nearly had a hernia last time I picked up one of your cheeky little 2'13's! It feels nowhere near as heavy as the Simdog tree trunk.
