James Taylor- Maverick
« on: November 08, 2012, 01:35:47 PM »

Seems it has just come out in the wonderful world of Social Media that James Taylor has made the switch from Adidas to Gray-Nicholls.

Having just spoken to him sadly the days of him donning an Ayrtek will no longer exist moving forward due to contractual obligations, he's a top lad and we at Ayrtek have been very proud to help him out and have him wearing the helmet for the last 3 years as he has progressed through the England Lions set-up and to full International honours.

We wish him every success with Gray-Nicholls and look forward to seeing him back gaining England Caps in the near future.

I've been seeing this being posted over twitter today and it's appeared on their website too - That's unfortunate that he will not be donning the Ayrtek helmet - there was a lot of press hype with him and that helmet.

I guess it goes to show that even players at the highest level choose money over safety...

Had a few messages today from a new Pro who will be using it next season and hopefully more to follow.

Difficult to get anyone that's a "big name" using it when companies can come along and pay players within a contract to use their brand kit, they obviously become even more attractive the higher the level they play at as exposure to media increases along with this. As a small company we do what we can to educate players about the safety we can provide them and hope they listen.

Not discounting having them on the International scene though as a lot going on behind the scenes regarding improving helmet safety standards for introduction in 2013 that could see Ayrtek setting the standard for others to adhere too :)....watch this space!

Tom have you ever thought of supplying your helmets to big brands? this might create more awareness and interest...most of them use masuri now but if you could even land one deal where you sell at small margin for a bigger brand for a year or two that they then sell as their top model and can be worn by pros who are contracted by them...after a couple of years you would have enough exposure to stop supplying or continue to do so if you wish..

I've already said I'm happy just to keep as I know I'll probably just get out roofed when I bat, also slightly concerned having been told "we don't bother calling, just get your head down and run"!

Don't worry Tom I'll stay loyal to the brand, even though my sky high average last season of 18 has attracted a lot of interest
