Claire Taylor?

Correct; I used to go to coaching sessions at the Oval on a Friday night. At the time she didn't have the brute strength that some of the men had, but more than made up for it in technique and timing.

Here you go Steve. You played a decent standard and lots of your games on cricket archive.

Ricardo Ellcott now he was rapid.

Makes it an even better knock Steve. Ricky could bowl 90mph with ease.

Yes that is one advantage , the higher level you play the better the tracks are. Once you get it , fill your boots.

Quickest I faced was probably Andre Van Troost. Quick, erratic and aggressive. Not a nice combo. Flintoff says in his book that he was the fastest he ever faced. And he almost killed jimmy Adams.

Yes same here. Get a trade said my dad. Thanks for that !!!

Wow Steve, you faced the greatest fast bowler of all time (in my book) facinating stuff. Those fast bowlers of the 80's were in a different league, so may quick bolwers and no limit on bouncers and batsman with no helmets !!!

I notice you played with and agiant a friend of mine Andy Spiller, do you remember him ? Bowled left arm chinamen.

Van Troost was quick and on a club wicket at Taunton was not much fun !!

My Brother in Law, tells me the fastest he ever faced was Alan Donald, in fact he walked in one game when he apealed for a caught behind. Matt had not hit it but when the umpire gave it not out he decided it was best to walk off anyway !!! (wimp)

Andy played for the NCA and The Combined Services. Its was along time ago Steve !!

Yes I agree, always prefer to face someone with a traditional action where you can see the ball all the way. Van Troost was all over the place which made it ever worse. He was banned from bowling in the nets at Taunton as it would be bouncer, beamer, full toss, yorker, leg side wide, off side wide and then one the rips you off stump out and sents it 20 yards back !!!

Yes so they say, not sure if its true or not, but they say he was probably the fastest white bowler ever to play the game and I guess if he was going to d it Taunton is the best place with the short straight boundaries.

Probably a beamer was more likely !!!
