Just wanted to find out whether any other County forces EVERYONE to do the level 1 award before doing level 2. This is something the Middlesex Cricket Board have started this year. I find it ridiculous that even the most experienced coaches are forced to go to a level 1 course described by the ECB as being "aimed at beginner coaches".

About whether you can bypass level 1? 

The rules in middlesex used to be... you can bypass level 1.

If you have two of the following:
Played in a premier league structure
Are recommended by a level 3 coach
Have a NGB Level 1 in another sport
etc

I have all of those (two level 1's infact) plus I'm doing a degree focussing on coaching... sometimes you just wish common sense would prevail!

Yeah, I've done enough coaching to complete it fairly easily, but if I do that then I'll need to wait another year before doing the level two as they are doing them both at the same time.

whatever they decide it should be standard and not set by each board in my opinion.

Also although it is very basic I dont see the point of level 1 if it is just bypassed.

Level 1 is aimed at parents of colts who may want to help out training sessions I believe, maybe someone who has done it can clarify?

i'm currently doing my level 2 after skipping level 1
had to get a reference from my club, stating I'd done some coaching, and therefore was experienced and capable or skipping level 1
that and all the experience iv done, other courses, and my degree in sports development and coaching

Sheesh I skipped straight to level 2 and whilst there were reasons for what they (the MCB) claimed was an exceptional decision then, they let two of my coaching team skip to level two as recently as last year.

One of my best mates has just got a job as Shropshires something and he is level 3 qualified soon to do his level 4
