Vibration...
« on: November 26, 2012, 10:30:01 PM »

Tapping up a few bats tonight, of varying willow grades, I noticed that I was getting very different vibration characteristics from them.

The two G1s felt comfortable through the handle pretty much from the toe to the splice, however the G2s seemed to have much more vibration prone toes.

Is this down to the shape of the bat (two are similar, but different grades, so not so sure), the pressing, the handle join to the blade, the handle, the willow quality, a combination of all of these or something else that I am missing?

The only real observation I could make was that the G2s both seemed to be less effective at damping the vibration the further from the middle you get...

Lower end bats tend to have lower quality handles, maybe?

I would suspect its probably a combination of everything you mentioned though.

I have just got a Laver and Wood from the forum and that has a bit of vibration through the handle. Been told it may be a lot to do with a large bit f can used at the bottom of the handle to Make the handle nice and oval. Any views?

The lower grade ones are B3, Laver and MSR.

Two cork, one rubber.

GM 808 - 3 cork
Ayrtek - 2 rubber 1 cork
Tempo - 3 rubber

All play fine, maybe it's got filler in or the join isn't tight. Any flex in the handle or cracking around the shoulder?
