Well, it certainly has more grains than ours, that's for sure! They are the same model though (1000), so I'm not sure why there should be any majorly noticeable differences...

Why so? I think it's very nice - ruler straight grains, evenly spaced, no real blemishes - what's wrong with it? Tapped up pretty well, but not well enough to make me think it could win a bat-off...

Looks a good stick that Paul. i picked 2 out that looked like that, and 3 that were much grainier, but a bit mucky down one edge.

There wasn't anything as nice to look at as the gear test bat, certainly not at 2'7 which is what it weighed, amazing for its size.

1000's as a rule tend to sell very well though, i'm sure the ones we have will go alright for customers.

Do you think the bat submitted was a "fair reflection" on what represents the bat model if people walked into a shop to purchase one?

I know it's very tempting to send your best bat in for review as obviously you want to represent your brand to the best of your ability, be it with the most responsive, best looking and most favourable pick up possible

I've seen nicer 1000's, I've seen worse ones. That's to look at in terms of grains and blemishes anyway.

Ricochet is obviously a new model so i am not as familiar with the profile, but this test bat does seem to be a little larger in terms of edges and profile than other kookaburra bats we have that weigh 2'7 - 2'8

It could just be whoever picked the bat was told to pick a nice one, and they've certainly picked a looker, and by chance it happens to be a less dense piece of wood, making it big for its weight.

In contrast, the menace was pretty standard looking, and pickup and size was normal too. Still a lovely bat to use but not that 'wow' factor that was on everyones face when it was announced that the Ricochet weighed 2'7

Shame this test bat wasn't made in a more manly weight.

That's wood for you...you can't guarantee what will work and what won't I guess due to it being a natural product without knocking a bat in a little more to find out its true potential

I have one of Tom's Ayrtek bats that has pretty much the same dimensions as other Ayrteks but is 2-3oz lighter. It does happen, so some pics of the other bats might clear it up.
