Blame it on Buzz!! well no not really :)
« on: December 05, 2012, 12:04:25 AM »

A short while ago Buzz had posted a pic of his KG bat that he got from Amit (i12breakfree) and looking at that bat stirred some old memories :). I have used KG is past to just bash it around so thought i would contact Amit and see if he had any extra hanging around as he had just returned from India and I knew he purchased more than just one bat ;). Anyways chatting with Amit was great, he sent me pics of Pro grade, grade 1 and grade 2 which all looked great. I decided to ask him to mail me the pro-grade one but he had already sold his to a friend but offered to get one ordered for me. So here it is in just a week from India to Canada :)

This bat weighs 2.11 and is pictured with H4L monster that is 3lbs. H4L is obviously bigger (spine) but it gives you a very good idea of how big this KG bat is for 2.11 and no/minimal concaving and I love the shape, pick-up could be better, not the prettiest but pings really well off the mallet and bouncing the ball. Surprising thing is finishing is top notch, silky smooth perfection. Here are some pics :)..

Wow! I don't care about aesthetics but that is a remarkable profile. I'm astonished! Brilliant brilliant profile! I haven't seen a bat which has impressed me of late on CBF but this is truly impressed me.

Few questions if you don't mind..

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it set you back? Is it based on SRT's profile? Hows the handle (thick or thin)?

It is sensational bat mate! Amit......:(

I know Uzair, when Amit sent me pics of the one he had i loved it but did not realize its size till i got it last night. This is the most expensive bat in their line up and still only cost $225USD (120GBP) shipping included to Canada, now Amit might have done me a favour as a friend and got a deal for me but even if it was a little more its still a steal..

I dont think this is the SRT profile but not sure, very similar to my RPC shape but bigger, most indian companies have 1 or 2 shapes and usually just continue to produce that same shape....this is the pro-grade and it pings very very very well...now when they say pro-grade it might just be their best pinging bats but they gurantee it will ping well if you buy pro-grade

oh also the handle is very similar to off the shelf GN bats in terms of size and feel....Amit has gotten me some fantastic deals already :)..including an awesome India ODI jersey

That is HUGE! Mind you, that H4L is huge for 3lb as well IMO. I've seen plenty of bats that are 3lb+ that aren't that big! The handle on the KG looks a little thin, but nothing a thick spiral or double chevron grip won't solve! 8) Is it an oval handle? I can't quite tell from the pictures, but it looks to be slightly oval at the bottom! Could be very wrong here. :P For £120 though, it's an absolute steal!

PS. I was going to ask if it was Canadian Willow, as a joke, as I have seen plenty of people here do that. What is the story behind that joke? :-[

Haha Chad canadian willow is a whole different story and trust i did try to find it but gave up, it does exist in some parts of canada but not suitable for bat making as its a different salix alba...

As for the handle its almost identical to my GN Scoop (which might be made in India too) not very thin but not thick...definitely not oval...all round :).. you are in Singapore right? not sure what the shipping to UK or elsewhere would be as India to Canada/US is very cheap..

Before anyone asks edges are 42mm at the biggest but a lot of the edge area is 40mm or greater..spine is between 65-68mm..

imagine adding 5-6 more ounces on this to make it 3lbs  :o for big wood lovers ;)

having felt the handle again I am downgrading it to be on the thinner side...

Hahahaha I live in Scotland. :P Never been in Singapore, nor am I Singaporean, I am Chinese though (Albeit with a Scottish accent). :) I am curious as to how you came to the conclusion that I was from Singapore! 8)

Not even a hint of oval? :( It's strange, ever since I found out the difference between round and ovals, and read the benefits, I don't feel too comfortable using round handles anymore. If I do use a round handle, it has to be quite a thick one. I don't know, it might just be that oval feels much nicer in the hands IMO. :-[ I'm pretty sure that it will be more expensive to the UK, and on top of that, there may be custom fees! I'll bet both bats play in to be absolute monsters, especially that H4L!

I dont know why i confused you with someone else who lives in Singapore and is a member here...now its going to bug me all night as who that is  :(

and no not even a hint of oval in mine...but you can always get it customized when order is placed i would assume...

Thanks Buzz, first impressions are very good. Now next step is to take the stickers off and "revolutionize" it :)

That's a big looking bat - and it doesn't look like it's got much concaving either.

No very little concaving, its 2.11 and feels like 2.11....grade 1 and grade 2 are cheaper....looks wise grade 1 were the best..I am sure Amit can post some pics...

Amit, question for you, can things like handle thickness etc be changed? couple more folks might be interested locally...
