the Too Many Bats thread.
« on: December 13, 2012, 06:15:39 PM »

This is the:
help I have too many bats thread.

As far as I can tell no one on here is immune. Everyone has far too many bats to be able to use. (except Pete. Pete can never have too many bats.)

it is a symptom if being on the forum for more than 2 weeks.

I have 3 match bats and other surplus willow dotted around my house.

Realistically I can't use one bat at the moment.

So the questions are.
How do you choose which bat you use in a match.
How do you overcome the doubts (if only I had that other bat...)

We all know there are a stupid amount of barely knocked in bats floating around, so finally how can we treat our bats more like Sachin and Michael Clarke who will use a bat even when it is being held together by glue and a scuff sheet...?

Since joining this forum I have already aquired 2 bats in the space of a month :S my match bat is for me the one that feels the best in my hands, before a match or training session I take all my bats but take the one that feels the best to me at the time, of course I have a bat that performes the best, a very light bat, a heavy one etc it just depends what mood I'm in :')

I am currently at 6 with 3 more in the air  :-[

Only 1 (RPC) is guranteed use and others get their chance in nets or one-off games if they impress me in the nets. I used to have a strict rotation policy till last season but RPC put an end to that...

I have had this problem before the forum, just the forum was a platform to make this problem reach ridiculous heights. :P

I usually take 2 or 3 bats to a match. If the weather is bad, etc, I normally use the bat with the most protection, ie scuffed and shoe-goo'd toe. On a sunny day though, I just get throw downs with the bats I have with me, and which ever I feel I'm playing okay with, I'll go with. :)

Normally I can't blame the bat for the way I get out, but occasionally, when I get out beaten for pace, I do often wonder, if only I used the lighter one... (Of course, if I'm using the lightest one, then it gives me an excuse to go and buy another bat because it isn't working... ;)) But in all seriousness, I overcome the doubt by just accepting it was a poor shot. It doesn't look pretty when I go and take a rage, but the way I look at it is if I rage at myself for 10 minutes, then in that 10 minutes, I have saved myself that urge to buy another bat. :D

I wish I could use my bats till they looked like this... http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-india-2010/content/image/495341.html?object=463148;page=1

I think the reason I'm stuck in this vicious cycle of owning more than enough bats to kit out a team with a match and net bat

Good question buzz

I have since 2008 nay used 3 bats in matches although. Have owned around 30 I suspect.

I got my laver and used it for ever only time I changed was when another bat challenged but I. The end I went back.

I even loaned it out as I thought it was past it.

It has had 2 new shoulders put on it the toe fixed the lamitoe broken out of it yet still is my best bat all others are measured by.

It died last season but I tempted to get try and get it fixed.

I have bought a few bats recently but still not found a replacement for it.

It not so much the greatness of the bat just te feel of it.

So far I still on the search for the match bat currently got around 10 bats here some outstanding but still feel I have not found the one

I have 7, 2 I've made myself since being here, a hunts that I've had forever, a GN that I've had for a while, a GM I got last Xmas, and a B52 I got off rematch.  Luckily my wallet is empty most of the time to prevent me buying more!

This thread is like a therapy session....

'Hello my name is Ed and I've got too many guitars'

I don't have too many bats because I've been buying guitars recently. I shall however now switch my attention to bats.

A man cannot have too many guitars of bats.
