Hey guys I'm an off Spin bowler and each year i Carry on I find I'm getting more and more bounce I'm just wondering what is it that causes the bounce as a spin bowler?
Thanks

How old are you? If you're in your teens/early 20's, it might be because you're still growing, so the ball will be coming from an increased height every season. Either that or you're getting more topspin than sidespin

Unlikely that the weight will make much difference; its more likely that you are imparting a little more topspin on the ball, which means that it will kick more, and possibly that you're action has become more upright, hence you are making more of the height that you naturally have.

I'm a fairly tall offspinner (6'2) and i always found that my high and natural action lead to more topspin and bounce than dramatic sidespin. However it can be an effective tool, especially in shorter format games.

could be you aren't releasing the ball correctly and instead of getting side spin you are landing the ball like a cross-seamer and kicking off the surface? Get a half yellow/half red ball from sports direct and watch seam angle on release.

Maybe you are bringing your fingers over the ball (12 o'clock) rather than round the ball (2 o'clock)??
In my opinion it is better to get bounce and a little spin ... a lot harder to play

thats true in many ways - if you get bounce on club pitches, you'll find a lot of batsmen try to hit over the top, get it too high on the bat and sky tame catches...

Yeah I'm going to buy a half and half ball so I can see what it's doing in the air

when you do work it out, think very carefully before changing too much- I reckon your extra bounce is worth a significant amount of turn...

yeah i will take that into consideration as at the level i play a lot of people struggle against it, its really weird on my home ground its always a case of turning alot! but other grounds i counted on the bounce and little bit of turn.

that could be down to your home pitch though - if you are getting a lot of top spin and a bit of side spin and the pitch is under rolled, you might find it gripping to dramatic results...

Just a note lads, spin has nothing to do with bounce....
Top spin will make the ball "faster", after the bounce back spin, slows it down.... Most of the time we think this is more or less bounce, but it's not really....

erm, yes it does. Spin helps the ball to grip the surface, which affects how it responds after pitching...
