Sachin announces retirement from ODI cricket
« on: December 23, 2012, 07:49:04 AM »

Very sudden announcement, but I think it has come at the right time (even though the BCCI wanted him to carry on for some more time).

23 years or passion, commitment, entertainment and inspiring a entire generation of cricketers around the world.

Maybe some bowlers would come out of their retirement now :)

India should play more tests now (but before that BCCI should learn to make decent wickets)

(Waiting for MSD to announce his retirement from Test cricket or at least pass the captaincy to someone else)

good luck with that!

Sensible thing for Sachin this - maybe gives him one more year of Test cricket...

Sachin is a legend but my personal opinion is that he has stayed on longer than he should have. Retiring before a dip in form would have been better. Still, expect to see him retire from tests if the next series goes as badly as the least few. Dhoni has never been good enough as a keeper and defo always been a more one day player. Who else do India have though?? Stocks look a bit thin on quality in all departments for them which is shocking given there is about 20billion of them.

I'd agree, I'd rather see someone going out at the top of their game than when form has dwindled and people have to recollect of previous form

Agreed Sachin is a legend, but I think we all saw when India were over here and then in Australia that he had lost his touch at the highest level.  The proof is in the stats, 1 tin against Bangladesh in an ODI and nothing else since, his last test ton we have to back to 2010, in my opinion this isn't a guy who is just out of form.
