« on: December 28, 2012, 11:37:12 AM »

i am watching the Ind vs Pak game on sky and the guy that runs in and opens the bowling his name is Mohammad Irfan  and is           7ft 1in. He is a man mountain. Anyone seen him play before?

plus anyone played against anyone taller than 7ft 1in

ian pont did something about his bowling action on his fb page ... i will see if i can find it, his action is HUGELY inefficient i would shudder to think how fast he could bowl with a biomechanically efficient action

"Mohammed Irfan can bowl a good deal quicker...

He could use his legs and hips far better, complete his action better, pull his arm back straight (and not towards the umpire), bowl with his arm in a batter release position (not 'past' midnight), plus a few other things. Good prospect.. I hope he gets the right advice"

yeah here it is :3

After Being hit flush on the toe like that by someone about 30mph slower last season I have huge sympathy for Yuvraj right now!

I've never known a 7ft bowler before, big attribute for sure and mostly above 85mph too

Played an odi against England a couple of years back. I think strauss smacked a few boundaries off him.

It does open up scoring opportunities being that tall I suppose, particularly to back foot players

you could be right mate, maybe a help rather than a hinderance because you can rely on the bouncer. especially as if you say you are a back foot player

Lol Birdy :))

I have seen him quite close over the years, I must say I'm truly delighted to see him do well.m coming from steel factory and not affording a pair of spikes tell a lot about his hardwork. Hats off to him.

I would love to see him bowl on Australian and South African pitches, would be treat to watch.

I watched him play his one and only ODI on TV in 2010, and I remember him being a bit rubbish. I also recall reading he's easily the tallest ever player at international level. To give you some idea, he's 13cm taller than Joel Garner.

There have been few figures in regards to his height, some (Cricinfo I think) said 6.9-6.10" in socks.

He was extremely rubbish in 2010 so his hard work certainly has paid its dividends although to early to predict anything.

His shoes are HUGE, when I went to NCA he had received new pair of Asics and blimey they were massive!

They could sort out his action, but then again he could lose pace. Kinda like usain bolt. Sorting out something technical can kill something natural...

With all due to respect to Ian Point - I strongly believe whilst being techincal solid is way to go forward but not every body can coup with every techincal thing.
