The bat prices have risen a bit ridiculously over the years..... think last year you could get a GM 909 for £150 now theyre £200
You have to take into account that the manufacturing processes aren't getting any cheaper though, not to mention the price of materials! I think that the price of tennis balls rose by about 10p per ball for our local sports specialist, that's trade price, as rubber is increasing in price. Cane is also running out and willow costs are also rising! I know it isn't quite so drastic to charge £50 more, but I guess people do have to make a living! You also have to take into account that many bats may not be sold!
Anyways, I think what Asad is doing can only be a good thing, both to the customer and himself. It means that the customer can buy more for their money, and Asad will get more business.
Aye - and I'm sure the willow on my Phoenix is better than most of what they graed top now!
I loved my GN Phoenix Pro Performance! Only had 6 grains, but it flew! There was something wrong with the handle, and I just gave it away to my sports shop, telling the manager that he could use the wood as repairs for chipped bats etc. I am kind of regretting it now, that I know that I could have gotten it rehandled, but he did tell me I could have done it for £40. Stupid me though thought it wouldn't be worth much. Scored my first six with it too!
