Batting gloves when to replace?
« on: December 31, 2012, 10:42:13 AM »

as title says when should gloves be replaced.

I have a nice pair with pittard palm that now have sweat patch & think may effect grip & absorb sweat should i replace these.

I have new spare pair in bag. (both Ice 850's which i really like)

For me I replace when the leather is too hard to flex! Otherwise I try and keep wearing them. They are like an old friend!

lovely gloves, I suggest you net in one pair and use the other for matches. if the palms are still comfortable then they will be fine. if you are worried about grip, check the grip on your bat.

I usually go through a pair of gloves a season. I then keep the used pair as a spare pare for when its really hot and I sweat loads...

Well for sure most people on here seem to change their gloves after every innings! Unless of course there was a century on route!

I tend to have sets I use in games (basically they stay really good for the whole season) and then I use a set for nets (which get absolutely destroyed with sweat etc).

I'd say the time to throw them away is when the palm (as that for me is the only bit to ever really 'ware out') gets all hard and less comfy.. oh and it tends to stink :)

Pads usually last me the full season of nets and games although by feb time (when I tend to get all my new kit) they are still in good nick but sweaty from training in shorts. Fabreeze cleans them right up though :)

I sweat heaps so I always use inners (fingerless), my oldest pair of gloves are about 3-4 seasons old and still going strong, no hard bits, still nice and soft leather. I have about 10 pairs of inners which I wash regularly, I have 4 pairs of gloves in my kit, 2 I use for games (my newest pair I've been wearing at training to break in after a few nets), and 2 pairs I keep for training. Works for me!
