Found this in the old mans garage, he scored 86 at the Wanderers on a club tour of SA in the late 70's:-

That would have been some stick in its heyday

I'm doing a bit of a refurb on it to see if I can bring it back to life. Shame I don't have any replacement GN stickers and it needs a re-handle, but you never know.

As a teenager in the 70's I painted an old bat white and stuck red tape on it. It was known as the bat with the sword down the back due to the pointed nature of the sticker on the back. The one on the front was just a short rectangular one.

You never know Gray Nicolls might be able to help you with some retro stickers for it :)

I might drop GN an email with pics of the bat and ask if they have some old stickers. Not looking for current models, so hopefully they won't view it as somebody trying pass off a fake.

They had plenty of stickers from discontinued models when i was last there, not quite as old as that mind.

Looks like you are bringing it back to life very nicely!

Don't reckon much to the one resting on the 'Lidl' bag in the background though!  :D :D :D

that was a bookcase in the wife's study. It was bloody horrible running along the length of one of the walls. When they redecorated the study we moved the book case to either side of the chimney breast. Looks much better now but I do have some spare pine floating around.

asked for some stickers and got this response:-

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your email.

I am sorry to say that due to increased counterfeit activity we are unfortunately unable to sell or send out labels separately. Please feel free to contact us if you require any further assistance, it would be best to speak directly with the Bat Repairs and Returns Department.

Kind regards,

Can't blame them. Here's how it looks presently:-

From the shape of the shoulders in the pics in the OP, this might be a "superlite" model. Is it quite a short blade?, maybe one inch shorter than a standard blade?

I don't know but it appears to have a "D" stamped on the toe. I'm not sure whether it's just a mark or on purpose. Any clues to the model type on the handle/shoulders I can look for?

on GN bats like that there is a stamp on the shoulder denoting the year it was made and a stamp on the toe which denotes who made it. My Dad's has a D too.
the bigginge can say who made it, I am not sure.
