Get yourself into a crap net like mine and you have to be a backfoot player!
Where do you play mate that you can do outdoor nets already?

Practice, Practice and practice. If you have use of a bowling machine, this will help.
Be prepared to wear a couple! Get a chest pad perhaps.

I'd start with just defending on the back foot, Making sure you watch the ball onto the bat. From there you can work on guiding the ball down to 3rd man or fine leg if its that side of your body.

From there you will be more prepared to work on Hooking and pulling.

Use a tennis ball from 15 yards. You only play back to a rising ball normally and this will help you to get used to this. It also allows you to practise playing with soft hands. I do this and try to imagine a couple of slips, gully short leg and that I can not let the ball pop up and get caught. Try this for a few net sessions and see how it goes.

I normall start most new net seasons with this kind of drill to get my brain in gear to help my judge length and know to play front or back foot.

Hope that helps
