on the fit thing, the straps attach to anywhere on the front of the pad, so you can set them up to replicate your all in one, or make them more comfortable.

to me that isn't really a valid issue to have.

cost over use is something to consider though.

Just with spending the money these cost, I would hate to find that I didn't like the traditional fitting style. But they do look great and also look well made.

This.

I would hate to pay an arm and a leg only to find that they cause the same problems I had/have with traditional thigh pad set ups which make me feel like I have a hernia and are uncomfortable when I am running in between wickets.

The Aero P2s fit very comfortably, are light and cause me no problems when running in between wickets.

If Stretton Fox could replicate the all in one experience, then I am all ears.

Having had Aero's just this year and now with stetton's I can say they are far superior to Aero's. Yes more expensive but you get what you pay for. They are far more comfy that the aero's and are less bulky.

Sorry if I somehow missed it, what's different about the new straps?

Hi Vic Nicholas and thanks for the query about the comfort compared to a harness system. I think a lot is down to what you personally feel comfortable using.

Traditionally with pads that are a set shape and can't be altered, if you have a simple strapping system which is also limited in where it can fix the biggest problem is not getting the grip where you need for them to stay in place, by having a malleable shell with velcro everywhere means you can get awesome grip to the body, and because the shape fits around you snug you don't experience the feeling of something fitting poorly and wobbling around.

The harness system is a great design and it really suits the type of pad which Aero make, my reason for just having straps is that this is all you need rather than the additional material / weight of the harness.

There are also two other options which are good, one is that you can wear Stretton Fox pads under a compression baselayer without any straps and they hold in place brilliantly. The thin and close fit means they barely appear more than 15mm off the leg. The other option is some players have requested shapes which allow them to place the guards into different harness or padman shorts pockets replacing the original inners, then with removable straps they can wear also without harness depending how they're playing.

I hope the above helps !
Cheers

Over the last couple of days I have been in email contact with George over acquiring a pair of thigh pads.

George's enthusiasm, commitment to customer service and generosity of spirit is UNMATCHED.

To say dealing with George is a "pleasure" does not - in any way - do justice to the level of service he provides to the customer.

If the Stretton Fox thigh pads I am ordering are even HALF as good as the service provided to me by George Fox, then it is safe to say they would be the best in the market place.

To anyone out there thinking about taking the plunge - speak to George right away. His enthusiasm will win you over immediately.

A gentleman.

This is how I use them, works brilliantly. Aero batting shorts or 010 shorts and box on the bottom layer. Stretton Fox guards on top with straps, then a set of skins tights or similar on top of the guards to hold everything where I want it. In combination with a skins base layer for my top half, helps to keep the gut in check....
