Asics gel advance 4 VS puma evospeed... durability
« on: January 08, 2013, 05:27:29 PM »

I would like to buy either the gel advance 4, or the puma evospeed. But as these two shoes are expensive I would just like to know which shoe would last a batsman/keeper longer, and would be more durable?
THANKS

If you are a keeper batsman I would recommend picking a shoe that is most comfortable (Assuming you are able to try them on) as you will be spending a lot of time in these. Even if it does not last as long as the other option comfort is important otherwise you could hurt yourself or be off your game...

I bowl in Puma shoes but this past season i got a cheap pair of GM's due to some restrictions on what type of shoes we could wear (no spikes),,,although the cheap pair did the job my feet used to throb & hurt after each game for days...i will be getting a good pair this season when i can't use spikes and use my puma's when spikes are allowed..

Thanks, i will definately take this into consideration. I haven't had any trouble previously with comfort, but instead my shoes have been wearing out. I'm just looking for something to last me a while and be comfortable at the same time (the perfect shoe!!!)

Previously I've worn gray-nicolls because of the comfort, but i have been buying a new pair every season...

Can't fault Asics, I've worn them for the last 4 years and they hold up very well

Puma Ballistics lasted me 2 seasons of keeping and opening the batting, comfy and fairly light too

I have not used Puma's recently but for comfort and durability I have not found anything that comes close to Asics, they are fantastic I have been using them since they first came on to the UK market (must be about 12 years) - I used to get through at least 1-2 pairs of shoes a season (currently use the green and black Asics Advance 3) but I have easily been getting 2 years out of Asics ones, as an all rounder playing 2-3 games a week they get a good work out. But as tusharsehgal said I would try both and pick on which feels most comfortable for you.

I love my asics shoes. For me puma shoes are narrower than most of the brands. So look at what is the best fit for you.

I'd say Puma, I haven't had good experience with Asics.
