Hey guys, just a quick review of a Kookaburra Ricochet 250 I got off Asad for the youngest brother, who is just starting cricket. I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to see Asad post pictures of his Kookaburras which he had received for sale, and had apparently beaten a few folks to it! I was looking for a really light lower end bat as a Christmas present for the brother, and just could not resist when I saw the grains on this beauty! It is 2.8, and picks up really nicely, as you would expect for a bat with a high middle. The response off a mallet is really nice, and the handle is actually very slightly oval, which was a nice surprise, and is quite a thick handle. As you can see, the quality of the wood does not really reflect the low grading, which is a bonus! The bat is very concaved, as you can see from the pictures, so I wouldn't recommend it for those of you who aren't fans of too much concaving!
A few negative things about this bat is the finishing is quite poor, and also the stickers aren't in the best nick! A few of them peeling off and not put on nicely.
I gave the bat a coat of oil and scuffed it up, and it is currently in the process of knocking it in, and it is sounding very nice indeed. There has been a surface crack though, which isn't too much of a problem as it is to be expected on the darker wood, but I hope it's just a one off as I'm not knocking it in too heavily at the moment! (Spreads across three of the grains!)
All in all, very happy with what I got, and Asad was great with his service.
I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy a new stick.
PS. Sorry about the kind of poor review, but this bat hasn't been used yet, so can't really comment much on it!
