Bat refurbishment
« on: January 14, 2013, 10:14:11 PM »

Sent my bat off to dean for an end of season refurb and it came back looking brand new! Was very impressed with the work he did and he provided a great service to sorting out any details! I would suggest to anyone needing a refurb to contact dean as his prices are excellent.

What does the refurbs en-tail? :-[    From some of the pics I have seen on other refurbs some have managed to get the bat to look one colour whilst on other bats you can see where the stickers have been.

Well I use a drum sander and it seems to get rid of old sticker marks but also dependson the age of the bat if its like 4 5 season old then that will be a challage to the bat looking 100 percent brand new.  Dean

Hi Dean,

In your experience is it better to just drum sand the back of the bat? My worry with having the front done is that some stickers do come quite a way down the front of the bat and therefore if you drum sand the front you could be taking the top surface of a well knocked in bat and thus altering the ping in some places.

Thanks

unless the bats in a really bad state you shouldnt have to sand it so heavily to affect any knocking in etc etc. most of the time a light sanding with a couple of grades is sufficient and wont take too much off. Refurbs look good from Dean and from what hes said I refurb pretty much the same way. Air Drum sanders are excellent as they give you chance for even sanding as the drum moulds to the shape of the bat.

Thanks for the information guys. I will look for one of these air sanders as my club have asked me to refurb a few bats for the junior members to practice with.
