Affinity Cricket
« on: January 15, 2013, 03:23:56 PM »

Afternoon boys,

Was round a mates house on Friday night, and he's as much of a geek as the rest of us, and bought my attention to Affinity Cricket. I had not heard of them before and other than a rather empty facebook page, couldn't find any further info online.

I see today that Paul (IJC) has told us he is now stocking these bats, and am keen to learn more about them. The limited edition number of models they are selling sounds interesting.

Can Paul/anyone else shed some light?

Cheers

Will

I've picked up and waved a couple of pre-production ones around at a net a couple of months back and they were really nice. They weren't knocked in sadly so I couldn't have a hit but they had nice profiles and they are actually made by Affinity as opposed to being stickered up by them which is a huge plus point these days!  ;)

Stickers, as ever with Marcus, look awesome.

That sounds good, the one in Paul's video looks a belter. My mate will be excited! Massive fan of another proper batmaker getting on the scene. Too much stickered up dross out there for me.

Someone buy one and review it. Quick

Didn't know the prices...but that's been done to death with the likes of Hammer, Instinct etc in the past. Be nice to see what gear Marcus comes out with

i disagree there will be a bat maker some where subcontracting the work.

i get that marcus is trying to launch a bigish brand here and for him to do all the bats would be impossible and not very good financially. he may over see production and be heavily involved with the process..

but my understand was he made a few shapes that he thought where (No Swearing Please) hot... did all the testing and pissing about in this stage. now he is getting some one to replicate the shape..

i may be wrong but that's the impression i get...

ok maybe i am wrong as i have just read and they will be only producing 50 of each shape per year!

so these could be made in house :) or by a small bat maker!

From what Marcus has told me, he has made all the bats himself from raw clefts, through the pressing to handling and shaping. There is no third party involved in the bat making process.

you are right about the small batmaker Simdog, Marcus isn't that tall!

I was chatting to Marcus before xmas and he has indeed made these bats with is own fair hand. You can read his twitter account for a record of his exploits @MarcusM77

I like the fact that Affinity aren't flooding the Forum with look at my amazing bats topics, these sell themselves. Less will always been more in my eyes.

they dont need to. Clever marketing from Marcus with Buzz putting some initial pictures up and then getting them into IJC who can market them on here on his behalf. Ive not seen the bats myself but stickers look good ( as you would expect) and from speaking to Marcus he certainly has the passion to get this to work. As far as im aware he is making the bats himself and is controlling everything. Hes also got a decent contact list to be able to tap for ideas or feedback so sure he will be onto a winner.

Hi Will,

In keeping with Affinity's "less is more" approach, if you want to find out more about the bats, either visit our shop or check out our YouTube reviews of the bats in the coming days.

But yes, I can confirm - Marcus made these all himself, and only 50 of each will be made per year...
