Show us your net bat
« on: January 20, 2013, 02:26:11 AM »

OK so there are plenty of threads out there where we can all show off our shiny matchday willow, but personally, those blades never ever get near accompanying me to nets. I don't fancy losing one of them to a yorker bowled by our opening bowler using a sports direct special ball.

I thought we could all share the bats we take to nets, i have seen plenty of members mention their net bat, i'm intrigued to see exactly what everyone uses, and how it compares to their match bat?

Currently i am using this lump of dirt i got on ebay for £40. It had Malik stickers and side stamps, all of which have been removed, i chose it because of the shape mainly, it's a similar profile to my match bats (if anything, my match bats are more concaved than this) and weighs 2'9 which is the weight i tend to use. It performs OK, not world beating but good enough for nets. Most importantly, if it snaps in two at nets tomorrow i wont be too bothered.

This is what I used in my last two nets, so I would say my existing net bat is, custom Gray Nicolls Oblivion LE weighs 2.10 sourced from UziSports.

Haven't started winter nets officially but had some 1to1 coaching at old trafford, this will probably be my net bat (was my previous match bat).

2011 Net bat was a GN Ignite 5 Star 2lb 9oz.
2012 Net bat was a Kookaburra Kahuna 600, 2lb 9oz

This year I currently am using a Bulldog Pedigree Plus and a Blueroom New Wave MP+1.

I'll wack a picture of the Kook up later. It's on the forum previously in 'your kit' sections anyway.

My net bat this is year is this lovely Vulcan i picked up from Dean via the sale section a few months back.  As you can see from my first net of the year i manages to use most of the bat except the middle lol.

I've never had a net bat.

I guess this season as I have two H4L's it could be either, but probably this one.....

It's going so well it's heading toward the #1 slot for our first match.

ftr, this is my eldest son's net bat.

Am MSR bought for a whole £25!
It's pretty hard pressed but picks up well and go's ok also.

I'm tempted to get one myself.

It's around 2lb 8

Toe guards are a waste of time IMO, much prefer to use Shoe Goo or some other such adhesive paste/gel. Easier to apply and don't have to worry about it peeling off, last coat I put on my bats was about 3 years ago and still works a treat...

looks a nice profile. Mid-Low middle. What's the edge size?

it's around 35mm at the largest point.

I gave Steve at MSR a very short brief, and he sent this one over. Delighted and great service.
