Bat Finishing
« on: January 20, 2013, 12:10:46 PM »

Ive just this morning sanded down my new net bat, using different levels of wetanddry sandpaper. Where i took stickers off its now nice and smooth, had no problems with sanding it.

However, im not sure what i should do now. You can still see thechange in colour of the wood where the stickers were. What do people normally do to finish off the bat? It is ready to use I think, but would like to finish off so it looks decent.

Thanks

You'll have to sand it all back to white wood, or maybe try bleaching it.

Thats what i was considering. Sanding it all down then waxing it. Reckon that will work?

All depends on how old the bat is as the sun bleaches the sticker shape/ pattern in to the willow. The older it is the harder it is to get out.

There is that but you'd end up taking around 4oz off the bat. I'd all depends really.

Im not too bothered about taking an ounce or 2 off. Ive added a second grip and some shoe goo and id say its a tad heavy as it is anyway.

Im fairly happy with the finish of where thr stickers where, it just looks dofferent to the other half of the bat. So i think sanding it all then waxing it may be the answer
