Purchased this bat towards the end of the season last year, it was put up for sale in the H4L section with a couple of other bats and as soon as I read the specification it ticked all of the boxes for what I look for in a bat. The pictures finalised the fact that I was going to buy it. So I contacted Matt and the rest is history.
Specs
- 2lbs 8oz (have added half a grip and scuff sheet so slightly more)
- 10 fairly even and straight grains, tiny hint of heartwood on the RH outside edge
- Very mild concaving
- 35mm edges
Performance
Used the bat for the last few games of the season and am really impressed by the performance. Gives excellent value for shots and the middle is quite wide and extends a fair way up the blade. Is definately my match bat for the 2013 season.
Appearance
I has 10 straight grains with a tiny bit of heart wood on the outside edge. The bat is fitted with the red stickers for the 666 but you may notice that the model sticker says Excel. So guess that makes it slightly unique. The finish on the bat was excellent and personally I like the stickers as know they aren't everyones taste.
General Feel
The bat picks up really well (a 2.8 bat should) and really does perform well. Often with light bats you find the middle is small and it can be a real test for a batmaker to make a bat that's light but also great performing. But Matt has managed to accomplish this.
In preparation for the 2013 season I have given the face a clean up and fitted a Bulldog performance scuff sheet in the hope to make this bat last as long as possible.
