could i add that the most important is that you enjoy it cause if you dont let someone who does enjoy it do it?

I guess it's different for young English player than it is for young South Africans players.

Obviously playing for the Proteas is the holy grail, but as the IPL falls outside our domestic season - there's no need to sacrifice playing for your home team to play IPL

I'd choose County over the lot of them personally, can't be much better than being settled with family etc then having to go play cricket every day. It may be a bit frustrating at times with the rain over here, but when the sun's out it's lovely. I'd love to be playing at New Road week-in, week-out with a nice humble crowd, than having to travel country to country to play different tournaments.

My take is that if you do well at county level and then kick on at international level the cash from the IPL wont be to far behind.

Start of the Career -20-25
Ireland - Irish blood in the family and try to help gain test status.

Middle of career - 26-29
England - of test status of Ireland is not achieved
IPL - money for the end of the career

Tail end -30+

BBL - for a bit of a holiday with the family and extra cash.

But lucky for me I was not blessed with the cricket skills to have to make a choice.

I would obviously say England first. but id want a decent run of it. non of this one test wonder rubbish. if that wasnt possible then a good 15yr county contract would do. Not sure if i fancy the IPL to be honest. BBL yeah, IPL no. just doesnt appeal being stuck in india for a month lol. could quite happily laze around in australia for a month or two with a few games here and there.

Agreed, BBL looks like a lot of fun, it seems to be better organised than IPL, far less questionable 'financial arrangements' and the domestic players seem to be of a much higher quality. Such a shame England hasn't managed to do something like this with our domestic competition. The T20 here seems to be a bit of a damp squib....well, until finals day that is.
