It's an interesting question. If the National squad was good enough to beat all comers in a county tournament then it might be an issue, but neither Scotland nor Netherlands is playing at that level yet. Would it be better if they played more against "Lions" level International teams?

well having seen all their CB40 games over here it obvious that without their overseas boys they wont be able to play that level yet. but i think against the lions could be ok! at least will help them with getting better. And they need to start streaming their own youth i'd say. Dont get me wrong i think it's great that they play in the CB40 it has a lot of plusses for dutch cricket. But at the same time we are a national side, not a county.
BTW. the womens sides do the same. they play English county as well

I think for the development of the game in the non-major cricketing nations, it has to be good, and therefore should raise the standard of the game worldwide, and hopefully encourage more people to play

What sort of publicity does Dutch cricket get outside of the ICC championships, say?  The mens team of course have created some upsets like the Irish. Is there much TV hype around that? Do you get to have a ticker-tape parades around the streets of Amsterdam? :)

I think it would be interesting if one of the national teams got to a level where they were challenging for honours. Would they be allowed to continue? What if they became the best team, and consistently won titles? I'm assuming there are some terms and conditions to their national teams being in the competition? Perhaps to do with test status?

Is there a reason why Ireland are not in the CB40? Is this with a greater push at test playing nation and some players spread across the counties?
