My shadows
« on: January 24, 2013, 07:27:12 PM »

Thought of sharing the 2 shadows I have bought in last 3 years. This is my second post here but am an avid follower of this forum, love reading the posts on this forum. The bats are a bit old hence lost its charm but believe me they are the best I have ever played with. These are my first UK made bats and they are masterpieces, very satisfied.

Bat 1 -
Bought in June 2010, bought from a reseller here in US for USD 250 (was a steal  ;))
Weight (with protective sheet and 1 grip) - 2 lb 9.5 oz

Bat 2 -
Bought in August 2012, bought directly from Charlie for full price :(
Weight (with protective sheet and 1 grip) - 2 lb 8.5 oz (had asked for 2 lb 7 oz or less)
It was pre-oiled and knocked-in.

The bat at the bottom is the one bought in 2010.

The grains are not so great compared to what I have seen on some other Shadows on this forum. But I really dont care about the grains. As long as they feel good in my hands and can send the ball to the boundary without me timing it, I am fine  :D

The new one is just 1 oz lighter but feels like 2 lb 5 oz ish. The only difference between the 2 bats other than the weight is the handle. The older one has an oval handle and the new one has a thin round handle. The older one is a little thicker right near top of the shoulder. The feel of the new one is amazing even though its just 1 oz lighter, especially when trying to play a square drive. Not sure what magic Charlie did to the new one but they feel different sometimes with just 1 oz weight difference. Any idea?
