Getting use out of 2 pairs gloves.
« on: January 29, 2013, 12:58:45 PM »

Hi guys.
I have recently bought two new pairs of gloves, adidas adipower (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=21577.0) and gray nicolls powerbow 1000le (the 2011/12 model, I can put up picks if necessary). Normally I just have one pair of gloves that I use in training and matches until they need to be replaced, so having two new pairs is a bit of a luxury for me :).
So I was wondering how you guys out there with multiple gloves utilise them?
Am I better off using one pair for training and another for games or simply alternating the two, using a different pair each session?
Any advice would be great, cheers.

I'm in a similar position.

I'm just going to wear the most comfy ones until they fall apart then replace and repeat process.

I currently have two pairs of gloves in my bag,

both of them are Redback Traditional, One pair I have used for two seasons and they have started to go a bit crispy on the palm so I am in the mindset it is time to move over to the new pair of gloves.

So to answer your question, I would only use one pair until they were not fit for purpose. Rotating two pais unless identical seems silly to me as the feel of both gloves will be different.

im more of a fan of rotation. my theory is giving them a chance to dry etc may make both of them last longer.

Also detest putting on wet gloves...

If my gloves are soaking on a sunday after saturday's play, I'll use the spares. (Although I rarely bat long enough for this to happen!)

I rotate 4 pairs when netting and have 2 match pairs i use in games. Always use inners as then they absorb the sweat not the gloves.

I've got two pairs of gloves and plan to use one for weekend and the other for midweek games. I also go to two sets of nets (one for each team) so I plan to do the same for the nets too to make sure the glove are worn in for the season.

I've got 2 pairs of gloves - GM 909 and GM 909 d30. What I have found is that using the heavier d30 gloves does improve the pick up slightly.

I also have 2 bats - one has a very nice pickup and the other is slightly heavier - so think I'm going to end up using each glove specific to the bat.

I've also got myself two pairs of gloves for the first time for this season - I'm swaying towards one pair for midweek and one for weekends, but having both in the bag for that rare occasion that I make it to the drinks break unbeaten - there is nothing worse than putting sweaty gloves back on (and is the main reason I bought a second pair...)

Try alternating and if they feel too different, stick to one pair until they fall apart would be my advice

Ones you like best save for matches and the others use for nets. That's all I do and helps the match gloves last longer.

Three pairs -

One for midweek cricket (that match my bat and pads - CS stuff is quite posho!)
One for Saturday (the most protective pair)
One for Sunday (the most lightweight pair)

Thanks for the input guys. Some very good advice here.
Seems I'm not the only one with a couple of pairs of gloves, what Wilkie does with 12 though, I have no idea!! :)

I'm leaning towards using the adidas for nets and gn for games, as they are more comfortable, but I'm not 100% sure yet.
