Of course he is capable of the odd good spell.

Only at the WACA with the doctor!

I love this thread!

Haha, what goes around comes around lol. Only a matter of time before he pulled it all together consistently. Lets hope he goes on and is consistently this fast and confident for a long long period of time. The game needs bowlers who can bowl at 94+ mph, with a bit of ticker!

Seems a completely different cricketer to the one that got torn to shreds by the barmy army. The wonders of a good woman, a steady personal life, and good sports psychology!

though he still has not bowled nearly as well as the commentators have been making out.  Adelaide was a career spell, for sure, but the rest of the time he has been somewhat flattered by poor English batting and the remorseless Harris.

Correct but there have been times when England's commentators have done that to Jimmy, and times when he has been flattered by some very average batting!

Fairplay, he's got himself sorted. Not sure why bowling with your arm straight took 4 years but he has been the difference this time around.

It will come around again  ;) .2015 Ashes in England and Mitch is pushing 35. It will be seriously impressive if he maintains that speed and consistency after 2.5 years more cricket.

Do do realize that his career record is much better than broads?

I think you English guys have got him backwards, although understandable. He's an excellent bowler that lost his action and got injured, not a crap bowler that bowls fast and occasionally well.

You English blokes should have seen him against the Saffers a few years back....

Biff remembers like it was yesterday, that Mitch smashed both his hands!

Biff will be a little nervous when Mitch rocks up in South Africa!

If you look at his stats by series he had one bad season and that's the one everyone remembers

(If you're English). Although he also gave England a 150+ run start at Lords in 09 if I remember correctly?

That would have been the same series Anderson took 12 wickets for the series at an average of 45 compared to Johnson's 20 wickets at an average of 32 wouldn't it?

My point again.. Remembered for one game not the overall series

I don't hugely rate Anderson anywhere other than England tbh! Its all swings and roundabouts! Anderson at Headingley, Johnson at the WACA.

I wouldn't entirely disagree with you on either point!

It will be interesting to see where this debate is at in say eighteen months - whether Johnson will be able to push on now or whether he slips back into bad old ways.

His potential is right up there with the best in the world. But if you take his action, it's just not one that will keep him injury free forever I don't think. Compare him to steyn..... Steyn is like an Audi, quick and built with German efficiency. Johnson is like a mustang, quick but made of crap parts, uses a lot of fuel and is bloody noisy and scare you half to death.

Cracking analogy! I agree, can't see him being anywhere near this explosive in say two years time and has he really got the intelligence to adapt?
