I don't hugely rate Anderson anywhere other than England tbh! Its all swings and roundabouts! Anderson at Headingley, Johnson at the WACA.

I think you will find Anderson's average at Headingly is about 55

Johnson wouldn't be as effective in uk as the pitches won't offer much, i dont understand why anderson is getting criticised recently due to his performance, he has been england best bowler by far in the last 3-4 years, just because he isnt getting much wickets in aus doesnt mean he is not a good bowler

Johnson has 20 wickets at 32.66 against England in England.

His figures are offset by the horror show he had at Lords(match figures of 3-200 and Econ 5+)

Without the Lords Test, Johnson had 17 wickets at 26.

I dont think Johnson would be effective as much in the next ashes in england if he was selected, but i still dont understand why Anderson is getting criticised, best bowler by far in England for now

The question was whether Johnson have an impact in English conditions...

So unless the WACA has moved to the UK I doubt it relevant

The ignorance on this site is astounding.  i understand that you're all low grade cricketers, but really.....

Very Fast bowlers are MORE important on flat wickets.

As opposed to your arrogance 'you're all lower grade cricket' .. Suppose you are a county player then?? If not then you are also a low grade cricketer fella

Even worse if he was a county player. Even more ignorance then in my opinion. Nothing wrong with getting an opinion over but don't make it sound like you're belittling people.

If we're all low grade cricketers on here I'd love to know what you consider to be a high standard...

To query where awp plays, it cannot be England as he uses the word "grade".  That probably means Australia OR a high school in America.

To put his comments in to perspective and to work out his level of knowledge.

The above comment is correct, but was in reply to Jason_Yuan who said that the pitches will not offer much (to Mitchell Johnson).  AWP has shown little or no knowledge about the English pitches as these will not offer much to Mitch.  English pitches are ...

 - Not as quick
 - Not as bouncy
 - Greener

Therefore they will not offer much to an out-and-out quickie like Mitch. They will offer assistance to the slightly slower bowlers who can move the ball off the seam (Harris, etc).

Joel, to be fair about English pitches, it really depends on how they are prepared. Historically the Oval was flat and fast, and Old Trafford is considered in a similar vein. I think I'd be observing how he performs at the MCG or SCG before making sweeping comments about what might happen in England.

As was earlier posited, in his last tour of the UK in 2009, he had some pretty good bowling figures and was the most economical fast bowler in three out of the nine innings. He was also worst in two. What this suggests is that normal English pitches don't present him with a particular problem, even if he isn't quite as devastating. I'm pretty sure that at 95mph, even on a "slower" greentop in England, there are very few people who would want to face his short ball. And if the seam did bite, you'd be in all sorts of trouble.

It's a complete load of rubbish to think that out and out quicks can't prosper in English conditions. Anyone watching Devon Malcolm versus South Africa or the WIndies greats in the Eighties and Nineties knows that a statement such as that is complete codswallop.
